This week on the State of Greater Western New York Report features well-known and popular New York State Assemblyman David DiPietro. He represents the 147th District covering southern Erie County and Wyoming County.
In the show’s first segment, DiPietro reveals some behind-the-scene goings-on regarding the current state budgetary negotiations. He explains how New York City spending cause’s the State’s budget to escalate and the role the “One-House” budget played in increasing the budget. But there may have been a reason for this, as DiPietro goes on to say. DiPietro pulls no punches as he delineates exactly why so many people are now coming out against Governor Andrew Cuomo and why “two weeks makes a world of difference” – i.e., how the timing of these revelations has been so critical.
In the second segment, DiPietro talks about a solution he’s been proposing to disentangle our region from the State’s mess. He’s sponsoring a bill to split the state into several autonomous regions, each with its own elected officials, its own taxing authority, and its own regulatory authority.
