Business & Tourism in Genesee County on This Week’s State of Greater Western New York Report – August 26, 2021
What a long strange trip it’s been over the last year-and-a-half or so, especially if you run a business or your community depends on tourism. What was it like to live through this in a county that caters to both the rural agricultural economy as well as one that sits on the crossroads (literally) of the Greater Western New York Region?
This week, Erik Fix, President of the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce takes his place in the guest chair and offers both a business and tourism update. (Like many County Chambers of Commerce in our region, the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce acts as both a business hub and a visitors center. In the first half of this week’s show, Erik provides some background on how the GC C of C came into being what services and benefits it provides, who it provides it for, and how to join.
During the second half of the show, Erik highlights some of the events the Chamber is organizing this fall. He also explains the meaning of “GLOW” and lists some of his favorite tourist attractions (including why he had to go to one all the time when he was a kid).
Our guest happily answered questions from the live audience. In fact, these are probably some of the same questions you had.
