133rd Assemblymember Marjorie Byrnes Explains 2023 Election Results And Warns About 2024 Election
There was an odd thing that occurred in Monroe County on Election Day in 2023. It was legal, but should it be? Click the link below for this week’s episode of The State of Greater Western New York Report to find out what it was and what may not be legal about the 2024 election.
Marjorie Byrnes represents the 133rd Assembly District in the New York State Legislature. This district covers five different counties in the Greater Western New York Region, including all of Livingston County and portions of Monroe, Genesee, Steuben, and Ontario Counties. As such, she has her finger on the pulse of local elections. In the first half of the show, she shares her analysis of the 2023 election results, including a strange (but legal) maneuver by the New York State Democrat Party that almost led to an odd result in Monroe County.
In the second half of the show, Byrnes explains in detail the procedural problems with a proposed (and currently scheduled) ballot initiative that is set to appear on the 2024 ballot. This omnibus-type measure will change New York State in many ways. She questions if it followed the appropriate legal steps to be placed on the ballot and why she and several of her constituents files suit against it.
