As the book “Western New York a State? Why Not?” explains, the New York City-Albany Axis failed to consider the wants and needs of the northeast portion of New York Colony. That section eventually seceded from the the colony, declaring its independence in the midst of the Revolutionary War and eventually became the state of Vermont. This group explores how, in some rather significant ways, the political infrastructure of New York State mimics the same historic New York City-Albany Axis that existed in the Colony of New York. Where do you see issues and policies coming from this historic New York City-Albany axis that differ from the wants and needs of the residents of the Greater Western New York Region?
