Sportscaster Frank Williams Discusses Red Wings and Dansville on This Week’s State of Greater Western New York Report – April 28, 2022
What was life like at Silver Stadium 40 years ago? What’s life like now in Dansville? And what’s changed in the way radio works between those two points in time? Click the video link below to see what sportscaster Frank Williams has to say about it on this week’s State of Greater Western New York Report [WARNING: Frank’s audio is bad until the 3 minute mark].
This week’s guest has spent the better part of four decades broadcasting both professional and high school sports. Today, Frank Williams still finds himself behind the microphone for Dansville’s WDNY. He tells us of his early days, two years spent in the booth calling the games of the Rochester Red Wings. Listen as he recalls the names of players who went on to noteworthy careers in the major leagues. Do you recognize them?
In the second half of the show, Williams, who is also a full-time postal carrier as well as a well-traveled preacher, reveals the places people go when they visit Dansville in Livingston County. He then explains where – and why – people from Dansville go within the Greater Western New York region.
Our guest happily answered questions from the live audience. In fact, these are probably some of the same questions you had.
