Historians From Across The Nation Meet In Buffalo – Here’s What They Think

The Greater Western New York Region oozes with history, some of it older than the country itself. What’s it like when state and local historians from all over the country come and visit our region for their annual confab? More than 700 American Association for State and Local History members visited the convention center in downtown Buffalo for their 2022 conference. Bethany Hawkins, Chief of Operations for the AASLH, oversaw the entire event. In the show’s first segment, she explains the nature and purpose of the AALSH, tells us how they happen to choose Buffalo as its meeting place, and reveals what this national group of historians really thinks of the Queen City and the Greater Western New York Region.

In the show’s second half, making her third appearance on the show, Melissa Brown, Executive Director of the Buffalo History Museum and who also played a prominent role in coordinating the event, gave us a hint as to the most asked questions she got from both professional historians as well as the public. She also talked about some of the upcoming events at the History Musuem.
