Summer Jobs, Implication of Hiring Teens on this week’s State of Greater Western New York Report – June 10, 2021
Summer jobs have never been more complicated – both for the employer and the teen looking for work. What are the key issues you should be paying attention to?
Labor attorney R. Scott DeLuca takes a deep dive into the “do”s and “don’t”s involved in hiring teenagers. Do you know that there are different rules based on the age of the child? Scott does, and he explains them all in the show’s first fifteen minutes.
In the second segment, tax accountant Kevin Woodworth gives the rundown and all the different things you must consider when filling out a teen’s W-4 form, and the various tax implications it has for both the parent and the child. Next, he reveals a little-used tax savings strategy that could have the teen retire a 100% tax-free multimillionaire. Finally, Kevin goes over some of the fine points that employers must know regarding the tax implications of hiring teens.
